Balboa Park Wedding

Matthew and I knew when we met Juan and Natalia that they were going to be one of our favorite couples and I am excited to share a small glimpse into their Balboa Park wedding. Juan and Natalia chose to get ready with all of their close family and friends present. Every single room in their home was packed with people so I made sure to walk through and document things exactly as they were. Thankfully, their home is very bright and white so the light bounced beautifully.

My go to memory that morning was when all of the girls piled on top of Juan and Natalia's bed. We were in the midst of taking group robe photos when the bed broke. That was a first for me and everyone in the house heard it as well. All of the girls broke out into genuine laughs and made the most of the moment. After a quick first look with her bridesmaids, we were off to their ceremony space.

One thing I love about this ceremony space is that it is centrally located in San Diego and so easy to get to. Settled on the outskirts of busy Balboa park sets this quiet park. If you are looking into a beautiful, green location for your San Diego wedding - I highly suggest this one HERE.

After arriving, we went to the center of the park for Juan and Natalia to have their first look. It was absolutely beautiful and even though it was mid-day and extremely bright, the tall trees surrounding them made it perfect. We had enough time built into their timeline to go on and knock out all of their bridal party portraits and then Natalia was able to relax as her guests arrived.

Their ceremony was filled with their favorite people telling stories of how they met and the love they have for each other. As they made their way back down the aisle, I was able to capture some fun images of them on film. These were by far a favorite of mine and I loved incorporating them into their gallery.

Once everyone made their way to cocktail hour, we photographed all of the family photo's and made our way over to the heart of Balboa Park. Juan and Natalia really wanted epic images of them inside the park and around its beautiful architecture. We stopped along the way for them to have quiet moments to themselves and a "first dance" tucked behind one of the many museums. Then we were off and headed to BRICK for their reception.

Juan and Natalia's something blue theme was a huge hit. The light coming through the windows was gorgeous and we were able to get so many beautiful images of the space and details they had chosen. Upon their arrival, everyone cheered and greeted them with open arms. They chose each vendor specifically even down to a local company who hand makes churros.

As the night ended, Juan and Natalia had their salsa dance instructor do a live class. They slipped away and dressed into their salsa attire and came back with the ultimate first dance for their family and friends. It was a huge hit and the looks on their faces were priceless.

Mr. & Mrs. Mendez,
