Stones River National Battlefield

Grace and Tyler’s Stones River National Battlefield couples session was an absolute dream! If you haven’t walked through Stones River National Battlefield, it is a beautiful area for fall photos.

I met Grace through our photography class. I saw her website one night and showed it to Matthew immediately saying “We are the same person!” Since then, she and I have become close friends. I couldn’t think of a better way to end my trip to Tennessee, then taking their couples photos.

One thing that is special about Grace and Tyler, is that they have been together since high school just like Matthew and I. Grace also became a military spouse right out of high school and they have the sweetest family of all boys. See I told y’all we are the same person!

Sometimes sessions can be too quiet so as we stopped along this path, I pulled out my little bluetooth speaker and began the song “You Are My Sunshine” by Chris Stapleton. I play this song for both of my boys to get them to sleep sometimes and it is the perfect song to slow dance too. As Tyler and Grace danced, it felt like I wasn’t even there anymore. As you look through some of my favorite images of them you will see exactly what I mean.

Before we wrapped up their session, I had told Grace to bring along some of her antique books. Little did she know, I had emailed Tyler beforehand and had him place a sweet love note inside of one of them. I know how it is as a mother to get wrapped up in making sure everyone is taken care of besides yourself. For me, it’s the sweet love notes Matthew leaves me randomly that help me get through some of those times.

So as they sat down I had Tyler open the book and I told them to look at it together so I could take some images. Grace’s face lit up with surprise and I was able to document those sweet moments of joy. Their session ended with them hand in hand walking together through the park. It truly was beautiful.

Tyler & Grace,

I am so thankful for our friendship. You both have been so welcoming to me and my boys. I am counting down til we are home for good and we can all get together and let them play. Grace, your commitment to Jesus is something I strive for daily in my walk with Him. Knowing you has made me a better person and I am so thankful God put you into my life. I hope you cherish these images as much as I do.

With Love,

Chelsea
